I am Joe Kapiche and one half of J*O*K*R .
I began mixing 1998 and since then I have been lucky enough to play out across the globe, alongside Aquasky, Deekline, Krafty Kuts, BLIM, Chris Carter, Rusco, Shane Watcha, Groovediggers and many others.
I moved to Southampton in 1999 to go to University and established myself on the DJ circuit there, playing at such venues and Influenza alongside Ben & Lex, Steelzawheelz and Hoffman.
After this I spent a year and a half in Australia and while I was there managed to secure a residency at the legendary Vibe Bar in Melbourne.
On returning to the UK I started a night with the other half of J*O*K*R Ollie Rubicks, and another friend Jamie Enzyme both big hitters in the world of Hardcore Breaks, called Drum Cartel at The Bucks Head in Camden.
It was a natural progression from this that Is It Breaks? was born from, initially also at The Bucks Head, we soon moved to The Pool Bar in Shoreditch, guests included, BLIM, Chris Carter, Shane Watcha, Plaza De Funk, Merka and JDS to name a few.
More recently I have started working with Ollie Rubicks again in the production studio as J*O*K*R and we now have a double A side release due in May on Dusted Breaks Recordings. Check them out here > Dusted Breaks
J*O*K*R are also residents at new London based night THEM @ The Rhythm Factory with a heavy lineup guaranteed bi-monthly with past guests including Rusko, Mum Dance, Baobinga, Ebola Tomb Crew and far too many other dj’s too mention. Find more information here > Them
Finally I have a new radio show starting on the 21st February with the legendary Brap FM. I will be on twice a month on alternate Saturdays from 10pm-12am. Expect guest mixes, give aways, charts and breaks, electro, dubstep, baltimore, fidget/tech-house and all things bassline in the mix.
